CSX expected to almost double its listings in 2020

At least 7 firms have confirmed they will be listed on the local bourse this year, almost doubling the current companies listed at eight, according to the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX). Citing that it expects this rapid influx to draw more attention from the public to the country's securities market. Of the seven firms, 4 will be equity - and 3 will be bond-insured, said CSX's senior officials at a news conference on Cambodia Securities Outlook 2020 held yesterday.

In 2020, the Cambodian Securities Exchange is expected to welcome more listings, both for equity and debt, said Ha Jong Weon, a Market Strategist and the chief operating officer at the CSX.

"In 2020, there will be more companies interested in the market because of a number of reasons," Mr Ha Jong Weon said, adding that listing on the CSX will provide the required capital, government tax incentives for three years and the competitive landscape, especially, in the banking sector to encourage companies to seek low-cost and long term financing expansion."

"We expect that the public will turn more attention to the securities market in 2020 through our continuing market promotion activities to attract more investment," Ha Jong Weon said.

Two of the expected seven firms will be small and medium enterprisea. A trend that Hong Sok Hour, chief executive officer of the CSX expects to increase this year. Since 2012 when the CSX established, at least $161 million of capital has been mobilised in the local bourse.
