The Visit of World Bank to Discover the ACLEDA Bank's Growth
September 06, 2010
Senior delegates led by Dr. Justin Yifu Lin, the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of World Bank, came to visit ACLEDA Bank's Headquarters in Phnom Penh to discover more about the progress of the bank and its success. His mission in this visit is to learn about the development of ACLEDA Bank, the leading bank in Cambodia for 17 years to share this to other institutions.
Mr. In Channy, President & CEO of ACLEDA Bank, told the Senior Vice President that there were three factors which brought the bank success today. First, set up services according to customer's needs. Second, the bank operates its business under the support and good cooperation of all levels of authorities. Third, all staff is abide by their duties, rules and regulations of ACLEDA Bank, as well as national and international law. Such success comes from its endeavor for 17 years from an asset of USD20 million to USD1,060 million in this August.
ACLEDA Bank is providing a total loan of USD632 million to over 260,000 customers and understands well about the needs and improvement of customers at all levels from micro business loan to small business loan and from small business loan to medium business loan customers. To serve them better, ACLEDA Bank prepares customer service officers, account relationship officers, and marketing officers to understand the customers' needs and fulfill their needs effectively since customers sometimes do not know well what services they should choose and only the bank agents who know well what services they should use best and get more benefits.
The President & CEO added that there was another driver for such success; it is transparency as basics which matches to the bank slogan 'The bank you can trust.' Transparency includes both staff and customers. All staff is abide by the rules and regulations of the bank by not accepting anything from customers besides the fee charged by the bank. Corruption or fraud is zero tolerance.
He continued, the figure by August, a total credit of over USD632 million contained the agricultural loan of USD99 million compared with only USD3.6 million in 2004. Therefore, agricultural loan has been remarkably increasing due to the policy of the royal government on building irrigation infrastructure, canal system, and basin which sort out water shortage. Agricultural market is larger and no longer a problem because of the export needs and high price. Hence, ACLEDA Bank provides more loans to agriculture sector; especially it complies with the policy of the royal government that encourages this.
All of the above factors drive ACLEDA Bank the successful leading commercial bank in Cambodia and regional bank expanding its branch network abroad.
